What Is It Prescribed For?

  • Colon or rectal cancers that have spread to other parts of the body.
  • Squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck that has spread to other body parts.

How Is It Given?

It is given as an infusion into a vein over 1 – 2 hours once a week or every 2 weeks.

What Are Common Side Effects?

You may face some of these side effects:

  • Skin rash, dry skin, itching, or skin peeling
  • Nail changes
  • Fatigue
  • Mouth sores
  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Headache
  • Increased liver enzymes

Your doctor can prescribe medication to control these side effects. Cetuximab may also cause other side effects. If you face any unusual or serious problems, inform your doctor immediately.
